Rico was born and raised in the Seacoast region of New Hampshire where he discovered the game of golf at the age of 14. After high school, he decided to make his love for golf a career by enrolling in the Professional Golfers Career College in Orlando, Florida. While learning the business of golf from top industry professionals, he started his apprenticeship with Golf Magazine “Top 100” Teacher, Rick McCord at his academy at Orange Lake Resort. Rico has worked with Rick for the past 9 years and continues to spend his winters in sunny Orlando.
From 2013-2015 Rico Served as Director of Instruction at Glenmaura National Golf Club in Scranton, PA. during the summer months. It was there that he developed his craft and gained a better understanding of how the mind and body work together to create a rhythmical and effortless golf swing. The members and guests at Glenmaura enjoyed a revamped and rejuvenated instruction program under his direction. Rico is now the Director of Instruction at Wentworth By The Sea Country Club in Rye, New Hampshire.
Teaching Philosophy
To be a good coach you have to connect with each student and understand what their goals and specific needs are. Going through a training program or lesson with Rico you will experience a learning environment that is fun, comfortable and stress free. It will not be the typical golf lesson you may have received. You will feel energized, confident and excited to get on the golf course.
Teaching involves instructing and coaching to improve the student as a golfer, and not just their golf swing. Rico believes that success in the golf swing and ball striking is dependent on one thing: the position of the club at impact. There is no method to golf instruction, each individual case brings its own personality and specific needs. It is my mission to help each student reach their ultimate goal, but also enjoy the process and the journey of getting there.
